This ornamental market basket is decorative as well as practical.  The curled reed embellishment makes a fancy design, while the unusual way that the rim is applied creates a checkerboard illusion.

The sides are deep slate blue, and it is finished with a walnut stain.  Reed is hand-dyed and may fade if exposed to direct sunlight.
