The sides of this basket are woven from more expensive cane rather than the customary rattan.   With a solid wood bottom and carved wooden handle, this is an extremely sturdy basket.   Lengths of braided seagrass are woven around the sides in a criss-cross pattern on a background of deep rust.

It is finished with a light oak tung oil stain.  Reed is hand-dyed and may fade if exposed to direct sunlight.
